I don’t think so.

I worked for General Motors for 15 years. I was an hourly employee. During those years many of us looked at the way the company was run in complete disbelief!

There was unbelievable waste, poor market decisions, a disregard for quality and an arrogance that was astounding. We complained about it, but who would listen.

I remember am older guy I worked with that told me that he thought that GM would be out of the car business in the future. Everybody laughed. The biggest company in the world, out of business?

But as I earned my master’s degree in organization development (how he’s down four times based on four times organizations work and how to make them better) I really began to understand that it was just possible, but almost inevitable!

Do you know anyone who worked at GM who has recently lost their job?

Are you in fear of losing yours?

You need a system. Your system is the formula for success.

Robert Kiyosaki has written many books about this. The underlying formula is the Cashflow Quadrant (TM).

What the Cashflow Quadrant says is that you can make money four different ways. First you can be an employee. You trade your hours for dollars. You get an agreed upon amount of money and you don’t have to worry about the business. That is what the business owner does.

The second way to make money is to be self employed. You still trade your hours for dollars because you now work IN the company AND you own the cocmpany. One benefit to being self employed is that you can give yourself a raise just by working more hours or finding a way to sell more stuff or the same amount of stuff at higher proces.

The third way to make money is to be a business owner. This is VERY different to being self employed. As a business owner you work ON your business, not IN it. Other people do the actual work (the employees) and you are free to be where you want to be, when you want to be there and do what you want to do. You earn this right by building a business that runs without you. Self employed people NEED to be at their businesses all the time or it will not run. Big difference!

The fourth way to make money is to be an investor. This is where you let your money be your employee and work to make more money.

I am going to suggest that you find a business that you love, you are passionate about and that will, in the future (after you have earned the right to have your business run itself) will allow you to be the third option, a business owner.

Robert Kiyosaki also has a formula for wealth that I love. It goes like this, when Passive Income exceeds Expenses that equals Wealth.

Passive income comes from being a business owner or as an investor. Passive income is money that comes to you without you having to trade your hours for it.

So, you are wealthy when the monthly money you DON”T have to work for is more than your monthly expenses. If you never worked again for money you would have all you need in the lifestyle you want.

Sounds like a great definition of wealth to me!

There are many ways to create the business you need to create this definition of wealth. You just need to discover what you are passionate about, create a way to monetize it (have it make money) and then automate it.

Like I say, “It’s simple, it’s just not easy!” But you CAN do it. Many others with less intelligence, resources and connections have done it, You can too!

Yesterday I told you I was going to give you the step by step formula for your own Escape Plan, lor financial freedom. the first step is your Why.

Financial freedom is a dream for most people. It is what they want. But wanting something doesn’t get it. Commitment does!

Want is equal to wish. Wishin’ don’t make it so. Someone who wishes MAY do it.

Commitment equals determination. When someone is determined they WILL do it.

What makes the difference between wish and commitment. A really big “WHY”. What do I mean by that? Your Why comes from a deep desire that you MUST have something.

Think of it this way. If I told you that i ant you to go to California, to a specific cliff but the ocean you may want to do it.

However, if I told you that someone you love is being held captive at this specific location on a cliff in California. Further, if you didn’t get there within 24 hours that this person you love will be dropped over the edge. Would you be committed to get there? You bet you would!

That is a pretty big Why. If you really want something, oh something small like financial freedom, then you had better get a pretty big Why.

What will happen to your family if you don’t create financial freedom?

What will happen to you in your old age if you don’t have financial freedom?

What could you do with your life if you didn’t have to be doing what you are doing?

You must come up with something so important that you cannot let yourself get in the way of it.

Do this:
Take a piece of paper and make tow columns.

On one side at the top write “What will it cost me if I don’t have an Escape Plan?

In this column write all the things it will cost you or the people you love if you don’t change and set yourself up with an Escape Plan, or financial freedom.

At the top of the other column write, “What I will gain for me and the ones I love when I have an Escape Plan”.

In this column write all the good things you will have, the security you will enjoy and the qualities in your life that will be increased.

Threre was a segment on CBS 60 minutes last Sunday night (May 24, 2009) about a naturally occurring compound called resveratrol. It was discovered about five years ago and has been in over 3000 clinical studies since.

The findings? The research points says that resveratrol can “slow down aging”, turn on certain mechanisms in your body that will stop cancer, may help you avoid Alzheimer’s and a number of other amazing benefits.

Which one of the following do you want?

The solution to each of these, and so much more, is self confidence.

Without it you you will be at the mercy of the world and people around you. Let’s look at relationships. Have you ever been attracted to someone, but couldn’t work up the guts to walk up and speak to him/her? Why not? What  did you have to lose? A better question is, what did you have to gain?

How about “peace of mind”? If you lack self confidence you may end up fretting over what  shirt to wear, where to go to eat, which way should I turn or any of a thousand little decisions you are confronted with every day.

Self confidence is critical to having the money you deserve. Yes, I said deserve! I believe that most people are limited in their income by their level of self confidence. “I’m not sure if I deserve that raise”. “I would love to have my own business, but I doubt of anyone would buy from me”.

You DESERVE anything that anyone has earned. If they did it, you can do it too! If you have a great product, service or knowledge to share then you OWE IT to the rest of use to make it available. You deserve to get fairly compensated for it. If you don’t show the self confidence to share your gifts, then you are doing all of us, not just yourself, a major dis-service.

Self confidence is a choice. Choices lead to habits. Habits lead to character, and character creates destiny.

My wife says, ‘Do it trembling if you must, but do it!” Each time I remember to do that I receive massive results and benefits. I make the choice all the time to either exhibit self confidence or not.

It really is that simple!

Here are the three things you need to do to choose to be confident.

First, understand that no one is more worthy than you. No one can do what you do better than you. You have a gift that no one else has. Just remember that.

The second thing to know is that your behavior is just all your  previous choices creating a habit. A habit is nothing more than a programmed response. Make a decision to change your behavior and “act” self confident. “Do it trembling if you must, but just do it”.

Third, keep acting self confident consistently for AT LEAST 45 days. Don’t let yourself (your habits) stop you from “acting” self confident. After a few weeks of acting, it won’t be acting anymore! You will have made the choice to be self confident and it will have become your new habit.

Have you ever been running late and think, “I can’t stop for anything, I don’t have time.” Then, you get the call you have to take, you get behind the “looky-lou’s” or your car doesn’t start.

This is the Law of Attraction at work. In small ways, but it is working.

Whatever you hold in your mind is what appears in your life. If you worry that something might happen, then you multiply the probability that it will.

You can explain it in pshychological terms. Your mind is paying attention to things that will verify what is on your mind. It will notice things that are congruent with the mental model you are holding. Or, it will interpret things in terms of the operating “belief” that you have (what you are thinking about).

The other way of thinking about it is that you are like a transmitter. You are constantly sending out messages to “the Universe” regarding things. The Universe doesn’t hold any judgment about whether the thought it is receiving is good or bad, helpful or not. It just hears the request, assumes you want that delivered and “Poof”, there it is!

Is perfectly fine to consider the upside and the downside of things and situations in your life. Just “hold” thoughts about what you DO want in your mind consciously and consistently. Whenever you find yourself thinking about something that you DON NOT want in your life just notice it, say to your mind, “Thanks for sharing but no thanks” and get back to your positive thoughts!
